Uruguay beat Bolivia 2-0, Paraguay defeats Chile in Copa America

An own objective in the primary half and a late second from Edinson Cavani gave Uruguay a 2-0 success over Bolivia on Thursday and ensured their position in the last eight of the Copa America.

Uruguay have won this competition more than some other country however they have worked so far this year, losing 1-0 to Argentina, drawing 1-1 with Chile and neglecting to sparkle against a Bolivian side whose last away dominate was 32 matches back in Myanmar.

They heaved and puffed through the main half in Cuiaba and required a fortunate turn of events to start to lead the pack five minutes before half time when Jairo Quinteros and Carlos Lampe joined to put through their own objective.

A low cross came into the six-yard box and abandoned among Cavani and Luis Suarez, Quinteros had to make a move yet could just thump the ball onto the legs of Carlos Lampe and into the net.

Bolivia lost their initial two games and were urgent to get a few focuses on the board yet in spite of the fact that they were not overawed they were delayed in breaking forward and no counterpart for more their all the more wily opponents. At the opposite end Uruguay had a large group of possibilities, with Suarez and Cavani both scorning openings and the veteran Lampe by and by in fantastic structure in the Bolivia objective.

Uruguay hadn't won since beating Colombia in a World Cup qualifier last November however Cavani ensured every one of the three focuses with his first global objective since that game when he changed over a luxurious cross from Facundo Torres with 11 minutes remaining.

Substitute Maxi Gomez ought to have made it three in injury time yet he side-footed wide before an open goal. The result finished a five-game winless streak for Uruguay and guarantees their place as one of the main four groups in Group A close by the generally qualified Argentina.

Almiron stars as Paraguay rout Chile 2-0

Miguel Almiron got an objective and a help as Paraguay beat Chile 2-0 in the Copa America on Thursday and affirmed their spot in the last eight.

The outcome guarantees that with one round of gathering games still to play, Paraguay qualify from Group An alongside Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.

The loss at a vacant arena in Brasilia was mentor Martin Lasarte's first since taking over at Chile seven matches prior, and it's anything but a calming one given how effectively they were ignored by their adversaries.

Paraguay started to lead the pack following 33 minutes when Braian Samudio, beginning his first game in this Copa, got on the finish of an Almiron corner kick to control a header past Claudio Bravo.

Chile began the second half more brilliantly however they before long got themselves two objectives down.

With 58 minutes gone Gary Medel was pronounced to have wrestled Carlos Gonzalez to the ground inside the punishment box and Almiron ventured up to score from the spot.

The two sides had punishment claims turned down before the last whistle yet Chile, Copa champions in 2015 and 2016, could have no bad things to say about the outcome having had just a single shot on track the whole game.

Their motivation was not helped by a line of top players including Bravo, Medel and Arturo Vidal, all having an off day.

The one unpleasant vibe for Paraguay was seeing substitute Antonio Bareiro removed the field on a cot in stoppage time with what resembled a knee injury.

Uruguay play Paraguay and Bolivia face Argentina in the last round of Group A games on Monday.
