
NEW DELHI: The duty division said on Saturday that it had given discounts of over Rs. 67,401 crore to almost 24 lakh citizens between April 1 to August 30 this year.
"Annual expense discounts of Rs 16,373 crore have been given in 22,61,918 cases and corporate assessment discounts of Rs 51,029 crore have been given in 1,37,327 cases," the Central Board of Direct Taxes said on Twitter.
Prior on August 21, the duty division had said it had given discounts of over Rs. 49,696 crore to more than 22.75 lakh citizens between April 1 and August 16. Annual assessment discounts of Rs. 14,608 crore have been given in 21,50,668 cases and corporate assessment discounts of Rs. 35,088 crore have been given in 1,24,732 cases, the office had said.
The office had said that for monetary year 2021-22, it has given discounts of over Rs. 51,531 crore till August 23. Till date, 93% of the discount claims in personal expense forms for appraisal year 2020-2021 have as of now been handled. In the past week,refunds of over Rs. 15,269 crore have been given which will be credited to citizens in the blink of an eye, the duty office had said on Twitter on August 29.
"During the last year(FY 20-21), discounts of Rs 2.62 lakh crore (increment of more than 42% over FY 19-20) were given to over 2.37 crore citizens.
