Ivana Trump, first wife of Donald Trump, dies at 73

WASHINGTON: Donald Trump's most memorable spouse Ivana Trump, 73, has kicked the bucket, the previous US president said on Thursday.

"I'm extremely disheartened to illuminate those that cherished her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has died at her home in New York City," Donald Trump said in a post on the social average stage Truth Social.

The couple wedded in 1977 and separated in 1992. They had three kids together: Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric.

"Ivana Trump was a survivor. She escaped from socialism and embraced this country. She showed her youngsters coarseness and strength, sympathy and assurance," the Trump family said in a proclamation cited by ABC News. She grew up under Communist rule in the previous Czechoslovakia.

Neither the Trump family proclamation nor the post from the previous president referenced the reason for her passing.
