Bajrang Punia wins bronze in Belgrade, becoming the first Indian to ever win four medals at the World Wrestling Championships

Bajrang Punia becomes 1st Indian to win 4 medals at World Wrestling Championships, claims bronze in Belgrade

 BELGRADE (Serbia): Expert grappler Bajrang Punia turned into the main Indian to guarantee four decorations at the World Wrestling Titles by securing a bronze in the ongoing version on Sunday.

Bajrang, who won a bronze in last year's Tokyo Olympics, managed with a nearby 11-9 success on focuses over Sebastian C Rivera of Puerto Rico in one of the bronze decoration sessions.

Bajrang, who lost to John Michael Diakomihalis of USA in the quarterfinals, qualified for the bronze award challenge through repechage round where he crushed Vazgen Tevanyan of Armenia 7-6 by focuses.

It is Bajrang's third bronze at the universes. The observed Indian grappler had before won a bronze in 2013, silver in 2018 and bronze in 2019.

India had handled a 30-part group for the continuous Big showdowns yet delivered a less than impressive execution, getting only two decorations.

Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya had crashed out right on time and neglected to get a platform finish.

Other than Bajrang, Vinesh Phogat brought home her second Big showdown bronze decoration in the ladies' 53kg class.

Vinesh had crushed Emma Malmgren of Sweden 8-0 to guarantee the bronze here.
