The pattern has changed this year.

Balasubramanian A, vice president and head of business at TeamLease Services, stated, "The industry anticipates consumer demand to pick up toward the end of this year." Contracts for nearly 40% of temps (an estimated 20,000 of a total of approximately 50,000) deployed for this task are getting extended." The industry anticipates that demand for durables, appliances, and mobile phones will continue well into January due to lower commodity costs. According to Balasubramanian, "they would require the additional manpower for a couple of months," which is the primary reason they have extended these contracts.

"With people's purchasing power almost returning to pre-pandemic levels, we anticipate growth in demand for consumer durables throughout the end-of-the-year festive season - the New Year week, until the end of January, if not beyond that," stated Viswanath P. S., MD and CEO of Randstad India.

To fulfill this expanded need, Viswanath said organizations are broadening the work agreement of their transitory staff by basically two or three months, especially in jobs connected with coordinated factors, deals, last-mile conveyance, and so forth " Depending on how their businesses perform in the first quarter of 2023, we also anticipate that some of these businesses will promote high-performing temporary workers to permanent positions," added Viswanath.

According to Balasubramanian, offer letters typically last between 45 and 90 days before the temps return to their villages to cultivate the kharif crop.

"As far as manufacturing is concerned, over and above the large permanent base, we do deploy temp professionals and have extended contracts - especially for cooling categories," stated Godrej Appliances business head and executive vice president Kamal Nandi.
