I received the best debutant award for Mardaani 2, spent pandemic looking at it,' says Vishal Jethwa

In this interview, Vishal Jethwa talks about how frustrating the Covid-19 pandemic was and why he doesn't want to do only "hero" roles.

When the pandemic struck, Vishal Jethwa had just experienced success in Bollywood after spending years working on television series. He made an impressive debut in Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 2 (2019), and his last film was Human, which was produced by Disney+Hotstar.

Vishal talks about how he "practically and realistically" accepted the long career gap caused by Covid-19 in this interview with indianexpress.com. He asserts that while it was frustrating, the entire world and the film industry were also experiencing difficult times.

Vishal is looking forward to Salaam Venky, in which he will play Venkatesh, a man who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He describes the movie as inspirational, and the character he plays on screen has taught him to live life to the fullest.

He states, "Venkatesh is an exceptional case. Normally, such patients survive for 16 to 17 years." He has been on his journey for 25 years because of his determination and positive outlook. Not only does he survive, but he also has the courage to dream big, live a big life, and help his family. He was major areas of strength for intellectually causes one can't help thinking about why we to grumble such a great amount throughout everyday life. Because of this, this character is very motivating; The relationship between a mother and son is the focus of this movie. The relationship between a mother and her child, in my opinion, has to be the purest love and relationship there is.

Vishal says he's taken the long break between projects, describing Covid-19 as a global tragedy. He responded, "I think it was for everyone," when asked if he ever felt desperate or upset that he was out of work for months after making an impressive debut. It affected not only the film industry but also everyone in the community. Mardaaani 2 occurred in December 2019, inside two-three months, I had quite recently begun getting offers for additional movies. I was just getting started and enjoying the new phase of my career. For Mardaani 2, I even won the award for best debutant actor. I spent Coronavirus pandemic checking it out. I lost the opportunity to choose work when I was in a high and was offered a lot of roles, which was a very sad thing. One, one and a half year went by that way."

However, Vishal is content with the projects he has been a part of, which helped alleviate his frustration. "Then everyone's work just stopped," he says. Fortunately, Human came to be, and people also enjoyed it. But I signed four films directly after that. In each film, I assume totally different parts, that was the great part. However, the part that was frustrating for everyone was not just for me. The entire world was suddenly put on hold, not just India. Therefore, if you practically accept the realities of life, you will not become overly frustrated.

After appearing alongside Kajol in Salaam Venky, Vishal will next be seen in Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Tiger 3, which will be released on Diwali 2023.

"While I can't tell you anything about it, I can say that I'm very happy that I'm getting an opportunity to play different kinds of roles," says Vishal, who is secretive about Tiger 3.

The actor, who is currently 28 years old, then explains that he has determined the kind of work that he wants to do and that he is not here to be a hero. He states, "I'm not in the league in those times when my contemporary actors must have come thinking,'mujhe hero banna hai'." I would rather not go that way either, be a piece of that manner of thinking. I'm very pleased that I can portray myself as a versatile actor because as an actor, I know my strengths and how I can perform. Simultaneously, if soon, on the off chance that I get the 'purported legend' jobs, I'd very much want to do that likewise on the grounds that after all I'm an entertainer. I'll think of that as a character I play, not a hero. Therefore, that idea is crystal clear to me.

Jethwa will be competing at the box office during a time when most Bollywood films are not doing well after receiving praise for his performance in the Netflix film Humans starring Shefali Shah and Kriti Kulhari. He responds, "I’m not nervous, after watching the trailer I’m even more confident," when asked if he is concerned about Salaam Venky's performance at the box office and whether it would be better to release the movie on OTT. The film has been seen by a lot of people in the industry, and they all liked it. If such knowledgeable people have seen it and are confident about it, then we must have made a good film.
