Paytm is promoting e-payments in smaller cities

Smaller cities driving e-payments: Paytm

summary of Paytm's transactions in 2022 shows that the national capital region (NCR) is also the nation's digital payments capital. The next four on the list of the top five cities in terms of transactions are Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Pune.

Paytm's over 7 crore monthly transactions are a useful gauge of digital payment trends. Over 130 crore digital payments were made for mobile phone recharges, direct-to-home television and utility payments, and so on, according to the company's data. The fact that most transactions take place at 7.23 p.m. on Wednesdays is another interesting fact.

Given that smaller centers are driving usage, the country's financial capital's absence from the list of top users is not particularly surprising. Paytm welcomes users from smaller cities for every three.

The highest percentage of food and beverage payments are made offline in Chennai and Trichy in Tamil Nadu, while Amritsar spent the most on health and grooming through Paytm. The most money was spent through Paytm on microsellers, also known as street vendors, in Noida and Nagpur.

Katpadi in Vellore, Tamil Nadu kept the most elevated development in advanced installments, with exchanges at multiple times what was recorded a year ago. The Vellore Institute of Technology is situated at the railway junction of Katpadi. Varanasi saw the greatest increase in offline QR transactions, with total payments increasing by 213 percent over the previous year. For UPI transactions, Lohit in Arunachal Pradesh, south Sikkim, and Ranipool, as well as Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, and Kamrup in Assam, are the fastest-growing cities in the northeast.

During the course of the year, one customer out of the extreme users made the most transactions in 106 cities across 20 states. Paytm was used by another customer to book 358 flights between Mumbai and Delhi. Rs. 2 was spent by a user. 8 million in a single day on Diwali. The most frequently conducted transaction among Paytm merchants was for Rs 20. During Raksha Bandhan, brothers used Paytm to pay shagun to sisters, resulting in an increase of Rs 1,001 in transactions.
