The Rolling Stones' 60th anniversary is commemorated with a UK collectible coin

The Rolling Stones' frontman Mick Jagger, guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, and the late drummer Charlie Watts are silhouetted on the new £5 ($6.44) coin.

Money is what they want, and that is what they want. The Rolling Stones can now boast that they are also ON money thanks to a new collectible coin released by the Royal Mint of Great Britain to commemorate the band's 60th anniversary.

The band's name is in what is described as their classic 1973 font, and the new 5-pound ($6.44) coin features a silhouette image of frontman Mick Jagger, guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, and the late drummer Charlie Watts performing.According to the mint, it was one of the last coins of the year featuring Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September at the age of 96.

This year, the Rolling Stones took their 2022 European "Sixty" tour, which came to an end in August in Berlin, back on the road.

In a statement included in the Royal Mint's announcement, the band stated, "We are delighted to be honored by way of an official UK coin."The fact that the release coincides with our 60th anniversary is even more significant.

The new coin is the fifth in the mint's "Music Legends" series, which honors famous British musicians.Queen, Elton John, David Bowie, and The Who are among others to have received this honor.

As the Stones sang in their cover of Motown's "Money (That's What I Want)," even though the best things in life are free, the coins will cost something. On the mint's website, coins from the Music Legends series that are comparable range in price from 15 pounds ($18.12) to 465 pounds ($561.92).

Rebecca Morgan, director of collector services at The Royal Mint, stated, "Our Music Legends series is creating a new generation of coin collectors."The Rolling Stones are rock legends in the United Kingdom, and we anticipate that this coin will be highly sought after by coin collectors and music enthusiasts alike. We hope this serves as a fitting tribute to the band's 60 years of rock and roll music for their millions of fans all over the world.
