With a teaser, Lyca Production announced Ponniyin Selvan 2's release date on Twitter.
With a banger of an announcement, Lyca Productions is saying goodbye to 2022. Ponniyin Selvan 2's big-budget release date and teaser have been revealed by the production house, as promised. Lyca took to Twitter to share that PS 2 will deliver on April 28, 2023.
Aditya Karikalan (Vikram), Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi), and Vandhiyathevan (Karthi) are shown briefly in the new teaser. Arulmozhi is seen walking among many monks, whereas Karikalan is depicted as furious sitting in front of a Kali statue. On the other hand, Vandhiyathevan's numerous wounds suggest that he has resumed his adventures.

Ponniyin Selvan 1 ended on a cliffhanger, with Vandhiyathevan (Karthi) and Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) drowning in the sea after a fight with Pandiyas. Fans were perplexed by the big reveal of Oomai Rani's face in the first part's closing credits, given that the character is also played by Aishwarya Rai.
The way Arulmozhi and Vandhiyathevan are saved and the truth about Nandini's origin will be revealed in the second part of Ponniyin Selvan.
The Ponniyin Selvan story will come to an end with the second part. Ponniyin Selvan tells the fictional story of Raja Raja Cholan and his ascension to the crown. It is based on the novel series by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, which was written about 70 years ago.
The Ponniyin Selvan films, which were directed by Mani Ratnam, also feature pivotal roles for Vikram, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Kishore, and Sarathkumar. AR Rahman composes the film's music, and Ravi Varman directs the film's visuals.
