UIDAI asks state governments, entities to verify Aadhaar before accepting it

 Delhi, India:An official statement said on Thursday that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has asked state governments and organizations to verify Aadhaar before accepting it in either physical or electronic form to prevent its misuse.

The UIDAI stated that it maintains that verification of the Aadhaar number with the consent of the Aadhaar holder is the appropriate step to verify the authenticity of any individual-presented Aadhaar, including the Aadhaar letter, e-Aadhaar, Aadhaar PVC card, and m-Aadhaar.

"UIDAI has mentioned the state legislatures by underscoring the requirement for check before use and has encouraged the states to provide fundamental guidance so that at whatever point Aadhaar is submitted as a proof of personality - confirmation/confirmation of the inhabitants performed by the concerned element involving Aadhaar as a character report," the assertion said.

UIDAI has additionally given booklets to stress the need of check and determine the convention to be followed.

It prevents dishonest individuals and anti-social individuals from engaging in any potential misuse.Additionally, it reaffirms UIDAI's position that any 12-digit number is not an Aadhaar and promotes usage hygiene.According to the statement, offline verification can identify tampering with Aadhaar documents, and "tampering is a punishable offence and liable for penalties under Section 35 of the Aadhaar Act."

Using the mAadhaarApp or an Aadhaar QR code scanner, any Aadhaar can be verified using the QR code found on all forms of Aadhaar.

According to the statement, "The QR code scanner is freely available for both Android-based and iOS-based mobile phones, as well as window-based applications."

Around 1,000 government programs accept Aadhaar, and UIDAI is actively collaborating with states to incorporate the Aadhaar platform into additional programs.

It is willful for occupants to utilize the Aadhaar number to lay out their character by introducing their Aadhaar either in paper or electronic structure.

Over 135 million Aadhaars have been issued by UIDAI thus far.
