Delhi, India: After Portugal's defeat in the quarterfinals, Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears as he bid farewell to the FIFA World Cup 2022. The images also touched Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, who came out in support of the great football player who is adored by millions of people worldwide.

Following Morocco's 1-0 victory over Portugal, which extended their dream run in Qatar, Ronaldo shared an emotional message on Instagram.

Although the World Cup in 2022 may have been Ronaldo's final opportunity to represent his country in the top competition, Kohli is of the opinion that Ronaldo's legacy and "impact" went far beyond any individual trophy.

"No title can convey the impact you have had on people or the emotions I, along with many others worldwide, experience when we watch you play. That is a divine gift. a true blessing for a man who plays his heart out each and every time, is the epitome of dedication and hard work, and is a true sportsperson's inspiration.

Kohli wrote further in his post, "You are for me the greatest of all time."

It's interesting that Ronaldo didn't start for Portugal against Switzerland in the Round of 16 or Morocco in the Quarterfinals.

Ronaldo won his 196th international cap in the match in Qatar, equaling the record for most men's international appearances.

He also doesn't play for a team right now because Manchester United broke up with him after he said something in an interview on TV.
