Day 8: Varisu vs. Thunivu box office haul The family comedy directed by Vijay seems to be doing much better than the Ajith movie.
According to Sacnilk, Ajith Kumar's heist film Thunivu saw a significant drop in ticket sales on Wednesday, bringing its total to Rs 91.95 crore. The film only managed to collect Rs 4.1 crore at the box office. Up until Tuesday, the Tamil action film directed by H Vinoth and funded by Boney Kapoor had been consistently selling tickets.
However, early estimations suggest that Thunivu experienced a slump in the middle of the week after collecting Rs 9.55 crore on Tuesday. On Wednesday, 31.75% of Tamil audiences saw the film.
Varisu, Vijay's family comedy, is currently dominating the box office. Even after a week in theaters, the film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, earned an impressive Rs 8.50 crore. Varisu currently has a net collection of Rs 128.30 crore in India, which is significantly higher than Thunivu's.
Varisu had a 33.33 percent Tamil occupancy rate, as stated by Sacnilk. Varisu is said to be causing a stir at ticket counters all over the world, despite the fact that it makes a lot of money domestically. According to Sacnilk, the mass entertainer has already reached Rs 200 crore, making it the first Indian feature film to achieve this milestone in the new year. The film's global gross is Rs 210 crore, according to the producers. The film has performed particularly well in Vijay's native Tamil Nadu. In just its first week, Varisu has generated Rs 89 crore in the state. In the meantime, Thunivu earned 84 crore rupees in Tamil Nadu.
The reviews of both films were generally mixed. Each of the films received three stars from Kirubhakar Purushothaman. Srimanthudu, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, and Athari are just a few of the films that make up Varisu.
