BERLIN: In an interview with a newspaper on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned China against supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine, claiming that doing so would start a world war.
After the top US diplomat warned his Chinese counterpart over the weekend against China providing weapons to Russia for its war in Ukraine, Zelensky made the remarks as China stated that the US was not in a position to make demands. According to Zelensky, who spoke to the German newspaper Die Welt, "it is important for us that China does not support the Russian Federation in this war." In point of fact, I'd prefer it to be on our side. However, I do not believe it is possible at this time." He went on to say, "But I do see an opportunity for China to make a pragmatic assessment of what is happening here." Because, I believe, China is aware that there will be a world war if it joins forces with Russia.
Concerning Moldova, Zelensky stated that Ukraine had provided Moldovan President Maia Sandu with information indicating that Russia was planning a coup.
