Bhuvan Arora, the breakthrough star of Farzi, claims to have never experienced love on this scale before. Was locked for big movies that never materialised

Although the love he has generated may be fake, the currency he prints is genuine. Bhuvan Arora has given the season's breakout performance as the hilariously quick-witted, street-smart Firoz on Raj and DK filmmaker duo Farzi. Even though Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, and Amol Palekar are in the cast, he shines through.

Bhuvan Arora's Instagram stories have been inundated with reshares of praise from viewers ever since the series premiered on Prime Video on February 10.

The amount of love that people are expressing is mind-boggling. Overwhelmed, I am. The actor, who was born in Delhi, says, "I literally feel every person who is taking the time to comment, to celebrate us. It is probably what an actor wants in his entire life — the adulation and love."

With the praise for the eight-episode series, Bhuvan says he feels like his years of hard work are "finally paying off." The actor's first film role was in 2013's Shuddh Desi Romance. Work in films like Naam Shabana, Tevar, Bank Chor, and the television series Test Case followed.

But Farzi's explanation of what it meant to "breakout" was unlike anything else. I have participated in a few projects previously and received some love, but not to this extent. This time, it has just exploded like a blast, and I have no idea how I am attempting to remain composed.

Additionally, I would never claim to have been unsatisfied. There were huge movies. When I first moved to Mumbai, there were huge movies that almost locked me in, but they didn't work out in the end. I won't say that I was discouraged, but neither was I demotivated. That motivated me.

I believe in taking pleasure in the journey, but walking does wear you out. As an actor, you should be happy to perform, and I am aware that there is a philosophy that says we should always enjoy the journey, never focus on the destination, and never aim for anything. All of that is true, but with all due respect, you do require people to validate you. You need your friends to congratulate you on a job well done. That is what you require from the public, your family, and yourself.

Bhuvan finally got a chance to show the audience what he could do with Farzi in a meaty role after years of staying under the radar. Farzi, according to Bhuvan, is a "very rare" opportunity for actors.

"Farzi gave me that chance to show off my work. Ten years ago, I went to FTII to study acting, but I rarely got to put what I learned there to use. However, Raj and DK gave me a lot of freedom to do what I wanted, which has paid off. At least for me, the validation is important. Don't be disappointed if you don't get it, but if you do, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

When I think back, I don't think it was that hard for me. Twenty of us traveled to Mumbai together. My friend would also be unemployed if I were. We held each other through those years of unemployment. We would talk to each other and have their backs. It's a blessing to have that group of people. He adds, "It keeps them going."
