Many protest about the position of the Instagram notifications button change

Since the Reels button now sits where the notifications button used to, users complain that they keep accidentally firing up Reels.

Instagram can't seem to stop experimenting with the positions of its buttons on the home screen. The social platform has reconsidered the layout once more following an update last year that moved the Reels button to the center of the bottom tab.

The Reels button has taken the place of the notifications button, and the new post button is back where it was in the middle of the bottom tab. The changes have resulted in a slew of complaints from disgruntled users, and everything is rather confusing.

Since the Reels button now sits where the notifications button used to, users complain that they keep accidentally firing up Reels. Some have even speculated that the change is a ruse to boost short-form video engagement on Instagram.

The button for notifications has been moved to the top, to the left of the button for DMs. DMs and notifications are the only two buttons on the Instagram home screen that display red badges, so it makes sense to group them together, despite Instagram's ambiguous explanation for the change. But before we can forget about mishaps, it will still take some getting used to.

Instagram previously stated that its live shopping feature would be discontinued on March 16, explaining that the move would assist the company in concentrating on its core features. From that point forward, shops will no longer be able to tag products during live streams. The announcement came after yet another recent modification to the layout of the home screen, this time removing the shopping tab.
