Accenture, Deloitte top M&A table over 30 months

BENGALURU: According to a report by financial and M&A consultancy firm Hampleton Partners, Accenture has topped the 30-month acquisition table in the IT segment with 72 deals, followed by Deloitte and Converge with 23 and 16 deals, respectively. Over the past 30 months, more than 1,700 system integrators and professional services companies have acquired at least one other company.

With the acquisitions of FiftyFive5 and ALBERT, Accenture increased its capabilities in customer insights and analytics as well as insurance integration with Blackcomb Consultants. Deloitte, on the other hand, was busy in the first half of 2022, purchasing cybersecurity services targets.

According to the report, more than 300 have made two or more purchases since the middle of 2020. In the second half of 2022, there were 611 deals in the IT and business services sector. This is a 31% increase over the activity in the second half of 2021, despite the fact that it is a 13% decrease from the record level of activity in the first half of 2022.

M&A saw a 37% increase in transaction volume in the IT industry in 2022, with 1,310 recorded deals, up from 899 in 2021.

"Most of the larger players are acquiring cybersecurity service providers to meet these needs in the face of growing cyber risk and frequently inadequate internal security measures. Additionally, as software tool ecosystems like Salesforce continue to grow, demand for specialized IT consultancies has increased, according to Hampleton Partners founder and principal partner Miro Parizek.

According to Hampleton's report, a North American company was the target of 59% of all global transactions over the past 30 months, while a European company was the target of 29%.
