
Delhi, India: The Mumbai Indians women's team's batsman Harmanpreet Kaur has been named captain for the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) season.
On March 4, MI will play Gujarat Giants at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai in the WPL's opening match.
Since making her debut at the age of 20, Harmanpreet has served as a backbone for the national team across all formats and recently became the first cricketer to play 150 T20Is.

As the first Indian to participate in T20 leagues in other regions of the world, Harmanpreet has had an impact on bringing the best of Indian cricket to the world's attention.
Harmanpreet has played head coach Charlotte Edwards and bowling coach and mentor Jhulan Goswami. He has also played with and captained the team.
As Mumbai Indians continue to be the nursery of talent for global cricket, she will now lead a team that includes some of the biggest names in women's cricket and young players eager to show off their skills.
