Arjun Reddy, a 2017 Telugu film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, received widespread acclaim for actor Vijay Deverakonda. However, critics criticized Vanga for the misogynistic tone of the film's Hindi remake, Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor. The director stated on the most recent episode of Nijam with Smita that film critics in Telugu states and the Hindi belt have different sensibilities.
The director stated, "It didn't affect me but funnily what I thought was it was the same film, frame to frame copy," when asked about the divergent reception of the two films. It wasn't called a misogynistic film. I'll tell you about a funny incident. Arjun Reddy received five stars, while Kabir Singh received zero. As a result, I learned that the reviewers of the film are different from our (Telugu) reviewers, who have different sensibilities.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga said that the protagonists' hitting each other in the movie was "their expression of love" in an interview with Film Companion. He had stated, "If you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman (and vice versa), then I don't see anything there. If you don't have the liberty of slapping each other." She slapped him without an explanation, basically Kabir had motivation to slap her. I don't see any emotion in you if you can't slap, kiss, or touch your woman wherever you want.
At the point when have Smita inquired as to whether he actually accepts that individuals in affection can hit one another, Vanga by and by supported his explanation.
"It depends," he declared. I mean, it will be considered domestic violence if children are born while parents are slapping one another. Children will have the impression that my parents fight constantly. I was referring to a specific age group of college students. There is nothing unconditional about a boy or girl thinking about showing their worst side. I don't think it's a great love story if it's not unconditional. Although it was not interpreted in that manner, I said it in that setting. They will realize that if I raise my hand after one or two of these incidents, she will also retaliate, giving them control.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga's next executive is Creature featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. Bhushan Kumar's production of Allu Arjun's film will also be under his direction.
