MANCHESTER: With a 3-1 victory over Fulham, in which two players and manager Marco Silva were sent off on Sunday, Manchester United advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals thanks to Bruno Fernandes' two goals. Fulham lost to Manchester United 2-1.
Fulham seemed, by all accounts, to be setting out toward their most memorable FA Cup semi-last debut starting around 2002 after Aleksandar Mitrovic opened the scoring in the 50th moment.
But Erik ten Hag's team came back strong, and the Cottagers fell apart midway through the second half in a frantic stretch that started with Willian getting sent off for a handball after a VAR review.
Ten Hag stated, "It was a clear and obvious handball... and I think we should have been ahead already."
Silva and Mitrovic, who appeared to shove the referee with his shoulder, were also shown red cards after the melee broke out.
Silva claimed that the reason he was given the red card was for leaving the coach's area, adding:
"We were clearly the best team on the field up until the red card."
Ten Hag has already won the League Cup in his first season with United, and his team is currently third in the Premier League and in the Europa League quarterfinals heading into the international break.
The Dutchman stated, "We are in a position to win trophies, but we must fight for it." We require the entire team. We've already played every three or four days since Christmas, and that will continue until the season's end, which is what we love. It will give us motivation."
Casemiro, a Brazilian player serving a four-game suspension for a red card against Southampton last weekend, was out for United.
United scored on Fernandes' penalty kick after order was restored.
Roy Keane, a former captain of United, stated that Fulham "had an opportunity and they blew it."
FERNANDES SCORES AGAIN Two minutes later, Marcel Sabitzer scored with a backheel chip into the net off a Luke Shaw cross to give the 12-time FA Cup champions the lead.
Just before the final whistle, Fernandes scored once more for good measure.
Sabitzer stated, "It's a huge win." We went back to Wembley because we wanted to.
Sabitzer responded, "Whether Fulham gave it away or won it, United did." We won it. Why not? They only got one, while we got three. We were thought and centered; The important thing is that we returned.
In the April 22-23 semi-finals at Wembley Stadium, United will play Brighton & Hove Albion, who defeated fourth-tier Grimsby Town 5-0 earlier on Sunday to end their cup run.
Sheffield United will play Manchester City in the round of 16 after coming from behind to defeat Blackburn Rovers 3-2.
