The target of forthcoming US legislation to outlaw some foreign technology is John TikTok

On Wednesday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee voted to grant President Joe Biden authority to prohibit TikTok. This would be the most extensive ban ever imposed by the United States on any social media app.

According to what Senator Mark Warner said on Sunday, two senators from the United States plan to introduce legislation this week with the intention of allowing the government to "ban or prohibit" foreign technology products like the Chinese-owned TikTok.

TikTok would be "one of the potentials" that the bill would examine, according to Warner, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The remarks were made on Sunday by the Democratic senator on Fox News.

The bill comes at a time when TikTok is under increasing pressure due to worries that the Chinese government might have access to user data from the US.

On Wednesday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee voted to grant President Joe Biden authority to prohibit TikTok. This would be the most extensive ban ever imposed by the United States on any social media app.

Last week, the White House gave government agencies 30 days to make sure that no federal devices or systems contained TikTok. TikTok cannot be installed on state-owned devices in more than 30 US states, Canada, and EU policy institutions.

Warner said he was worried that TikTok "can be a misleading publicity instrument" in light of the kinds of recordings it ships off clients.

According to what he stated, the bill that he intends to introduce "would say, in terms of foreign technology coming into America, we've got to have a systematic approach to make sure we can ban or prohibit it when necessary."

He stated that he and Republican Senator John Thune planned to present the legislation this week. Warner's spokesperson stated that an announcement was anticipated for Tuesday.

On Sunday, no information regarding the proposed bill was available. Questions regarding the strategy were not immediately answered by a Thune spokesperson.
