Quebec, Canada.
On Wednesday, parts of Ontario and Quebec were battered by freezing rain and thunderstorms, officials reported, causing approximately 8,00,000 people to lose power.
As a large portion of the province remained under a freezing rain warning, Quebec's power utility announced shortly after 5 p.m. that more than 6,76,000 of its 4.5 million customers were without electricity.
According to Gabrielle Leblanc, a spokesperson for Hydro-Québec, "the mixture of precipitation and wind is what's causing the outages." The farms are weighed down by it. The lines might come down with branches and trees.
In Montreal, in excess of 3,16,000 clients had lost power, while 1,71,000 individuals were hit with blackouts in the Montérégie locale, south of the city.
It is to be noted that US had a severe storm last week and many lost their homes and public infrastructure was damaged.
