Having her students create their own obituaries, a US teacher was dismissed

In the wake of an active shooter in the US school, a high school teacher in the United States state of Florida required his students to write their own obituaries. This led to the teacher's dismissal.

In a statement that was made public by the media, the Orange County School District stated that "a teacher gave an inappropriate assignment about school violence... (and) has been terminated." It gave no further detail.

This is a bizarre twist in the wake of the recent school shootings in US. It seems that the teacher wanted to convey the message of uncertainity and thus gave the exercise. But this did not bode well with the parents nor the students. The school body has taken an action to suspend the teacher. The parents of the school felt relief at this action.
