COLUMBUS: An engine fire on a plane shortly after it took off from an Ohio airport on Sunday was caused by a bird strike, but no injuries were reported, according to authorities.
Around 7:45 a.m., American Airlines flight 1958 was on its way to Phoenix from John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Columbus. The Boeing 737 returned to the airport after the fire was discovered, and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
According to airport officials, the facility continued to function normally, and the fire only resulted in a few minor flight delays.
The F.A.A.A. will conduct an investigation.
