On Ram Navami, the Sensex and Nifty closed on March 30

Sensex, Nifty closed on March 30 for Ram Navami

MUMBAI: On Ram Navami, the currency, debt, and equity markets in India will be closed. On March 31, the markets will resume trading.

On Wednesday, the S&P BSE Sensex increased 0.60 percent to 57,960.09, while the Nifty 50 index gained 0.76 percent to 17,080.70. All sectors saw gains as a result of easing concerns about the global banking crisis and a rebound in Adani group stock prices, which also helped sentiment.

In spite of a rebound in Treasury yields that supported the dollar index, the rupee fell 0.18 percent to trade at 82.3375 per US dollar, with its Asian counterparts also trading mixed.

As mutual funds increased bond purchases ahead of a change in taxation that will take effect next week, the benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.79 rupees, with its yield falling 3 basis points to a two-month low of 7.2897 percent.
