There are "Star Wars" marriages in an Ohio city on May the Fourth

May the Fourth be 'I do': Ohio city has 'Star Wars' weddings

Ohio, Anchor: When Julia and Robert Jones found out that a judge from Ohio's Akron Municipal Court would be officiating "Star Wars"-themed weddings on May 4th, they felt like the Force was telling them to do it.

Julia Jones stated, "There was no other right decision, that was it."

"Star Wars Episode IV: The Akron couple and six other couples held 15-minute weddings on Thursday at the Highland Universal Gathering Spot in Akron to celebrate May the Fourth, which is basically a holiday for "Star Wars" fans. "A New Hope" played in the background.

The majority of newlyweds wore traditional attire, such as white gowns or shirts and ties. However, Julia resembled a member of the Sith, the franchise's antagonists, and Robert resembled a Jedi when they arrived in long tunics in keeping with the theme.

In front of Julia's parents and Akron Municipal Court Judge Ron Cable, they exchanged vows while holding lightsabers. Cable declared that "by the joining of the lightsabers, and by the giving and receiving of rings," he pronounced them husband and wife.

"I wish you all the bliss," he told them. " "May you be supported by the Force."

Fans of "Star Wars" all over the world mark May 4 with a variety of tributes, and retailers offer special deals on related merchandise. Additionally, Carrie Fisher, an adored "Star Wars" actor, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in her memory this year.
