Rinku Singh is most likely to play in the West Indies T20 Internationals because Umesh Yadav is injured but has not been dropped

MUMBAI: According to information obtained by TOI, veteran fast bowler Umesh Yadav is out with a hamstring injury but has not been dropped from the two-match West Indies series.

"Umesh is experiencing a hamstring injury and is recuperating at the Public Cricket Foundation in Bangalore," a source in the BCCI told TOI.

After an average performance (0-77 and 2-54) in the World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval earlier this month, it was speculated that Umesh, 35, was dropped.

"Doors not closed on Umesh, Pujara" The selectors have not closed the doors on Umesh, who has taken 170 wickets in 57 Tests, or on Cheteshwar Pujara, an experienced batsman who has been dropped from the Test team.

"Anyone can make a comeback if Ajinkya Rahane can be made the vice-captain of the Test team after being out for 15 months prior to the WTC final. "No senior player has been turned away," the source stated.

"The only requirement is that you begin the transition somewhere. He stated, "The selectors don't want a situation in which all of the seniors leave the scene at once and there is no experienced person left in the dressing room."
