CV Dev, a stage and film actor in Malayalam, dies at the age of 83

 


CV Dev began his career as an actor in the theater. He has since appeared in films like Sadayam, English Medium, Mannadiar Penninu Chenkotta Chekkan, and Sandesham.

Prestigious film and theater entertainer CV Dev died at 83 years old in Kozhikode on Monday. According to The Hindu, he passed away while being treated at the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital because of cardiac problems.

On Tuesday morning, West Hill Crematorium hosted Dev's funeral.

CV Dev, who made his acting debut in VK Pavithran's Yaro Oral, began his career in the theater. Dev acted in films like Sandesham, English Medium, Chandrolsavam, Mannadiar Penninu Chenkotta Chekkan, Sadayam, Manassinakkare, Katha Thudarunnu, Mizhi Randilum, and Pattabhishekam in addition to appearing in plays like Sthithi, Gopuranadayil, Agraharam, and Paanan Padatha Pattu.

The actor, who was born C Vasudevan in 1940, changed his name to CV Dev after becoming involved in the artistic community. At the age of 19, Dev discovered the world of theater through Sadanandan Kallai's Vilakkinte Velichathil.

He is likewise a beneficiary of the PJ Antony Dedication Grant and the Master Pooja Grant comprised by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. His wife Janaki and three children, Sukanya, Sukavya, and Sukathmajan, survive him.
