In May, the number of Covid-19 positive test results rose by more than 40% in China

BEIJING (China): Since April, the number of people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Chinese hospitals has increased by more than fivefold. According to The Straits Times, data from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that it has reached more than 40% of those who were tested at the end of May.

China was hit by a Covid-19 wave again in May, according to government data, with a near-peak positive test rate in comparison to the pandemic's peak at the end of 2022.

In May, 164 people who had contracted Covid-19 died in China. In addition, according to a report that was published in The Straits Times, as many as 2,777 people contracted severe infections, and the number of cases persisted throughout the month.

The Waterways Times is an English-language everyday broadsheet paper situated in Singapore.

Anecdotal evidence of a second wave that was reported in local and social media was confirmed by the China CDC Covid-19 data for May. The agency last released a weekly surveillance report at the end of April, so the report came more than a month later.

There has been a slight indication of broad non-attendance at workplaces and processing plants. In addition, the majority of illnesses, according to the doctors, are mild.

The Straits Times reports that Dr. Zhong Nanshan, a renowned specialist in pulmonary diseases and one of China's most important Covid-19 advisors, predicted that the second wave would reach its peak at the end of June, possibly with over 65 million cases per week.

Besides, The Chinese specialists are racing to push out immunizations to battle a continuous new rush of the Covid that is supposed to top in June and taint upwards of 65 million individuals per week since the new XBB variations of the infection are advancing to beat the resistance created after China's unexpected takeoff from its "zero Coronavirus" strategy last year, The Washington Post revealed in May.
