Mission: After several delays brought on by the pandemic, Christopher McQuarrie's Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One finally had its global premiere in Rome on Monday, June 19, paving the way for its July 12 theatrical release.

“Tom Cruise is as good as ever, and Rebecca Ferguson is still my favorite, but franchise newcomer Hayley Atwell was the major standout for me. She can do everything. Comedy, action, and a capable hero who tries to get her feet under her in some situations. One of the most enthralling performances and arcs, and a character that is just so much fun to watch. She has a scene with Tom that involves a Fiat 500. I laughed so hard that it made me cry. Another shout-out to a set piece: one particular scene in the train sequence had my jaw dropping. The critic went on to say, "2 hours and 43 minutes that I will happily watch over and over again."
Screenrant's Joe Deckelmeier described Dead Reckoning Part One as "phenomenal": Every scene Hayley Atwell is in steals the show.
Kate Erbland of Indiewire said that the movie "does the best job yet of recent'part 1 of 2!!'" features in making the film feel like its own while preparing for the second half.
Uproxx's Mike Ryan stated that the film "works as Christopher McQuarrie's ambitious examination of AI and the dangerous path we might be on."
The much-anticipated gala screening was delayed by more than 90 minutes as a result of Tom Cruise's meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This caused the audience to become dissatisfied and frustrated. However, as soon as the actor, along with director Christopher McQuarrie and a large portion of the film's ensemble, finally arrived at the Auditorium della Conciliazione, the audience erupted in cheers and greeted the star with open arms.

As per Simon Pegg, the movie's center is the cooperative energy among Voyage and chief Christopher McQuarrie, which started in 2011 with Phantom Convention on which McQuarrie filled in as an uncredited author. " They've just encouraged and pushed each other to move the story along, turning it into a kind of self-perpetuating, evolving relationship; to make the scale bigger; increase your ambition, "Pegg stated to Variety.
