QUETTA: Assailants went after a security post in Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan territory, setting off a shootout that left three cops a paramilitary trooper and one aggressor dead on Sunday, authorities said.
Abdul Salam Baloch, the head of the local police, said that while one of the militants was killed, the others managed to flee to the mountainous Shirani district, which borders North Waziristan, where they have multiple hideouts. He said the aggressors utilized hand projectiles, rocket-impelled explosives and attack rifles during the assault.
