Tuesday is the first meeting of the US-China working group on precursor chemicals for fentanyl

WASHINGTON: A senior US official announced on Sunday that the first joint meeting of the US-China working group on fentanyl precursor chemicals will take place in Beijing on January 30.

"This is a critical piece of the execution of our reciprocal participation on this work," the US official told correspondents.

The official went on to say that the United States has information that China started taking action against Chinese companies that make precursor chemicals around the time of the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden in November of last year.

The US will seek after policing and force controls on the forerunners. The gathering is an essential second for the issue, the authority said.

Top Chinese and US authorities held authentic discussions in Bangkok pointed toward bringing down pressures between the US and China on Taiwan and different subjects, in front of a normal springtime call between President Joe Biden and Chinese pioneer Xi Jinping.

At a summit in California last year, the two leaders discussed efforts to reduce the flow of fentanyl, which is a leading drug overdose cause in the United States. The US is now seeing less captures of illegal synthetic substances used to make fentanyl at US air terminals after China dropped to close down organizations that make them.

China has begun a few discussions with Mexico about the issue, the authority said. " It is truly critical that this is a multilateral issue," the authority said.
