ESIC-insured workers can download an e-Pehchan card through the ESIC Health Connect app. The card is an identification document connected to the Employees’ State Insurance scheme.

1. Sign in as an insured person
Open ESIC Health Connect and select Insured Person.
Enter your IP number, request the one-time password, enter the OTP and sign in.
2. Open IP Details
From the home page, select IP Details. The manual shows this as the section used to reach the e-Pehchan card option.
3. Select the employer code
Choose the relevant employer code shown for your account.
This matters when more than one employer code appears. The official guide does not provide a general rule for choosing between multiple codes, so this article does not infer one.
4. Download the e-Pehchan card
Select Download E-Pehchan Card. The downloaded document is the digital copy of the identification card available through the app.
The card is also listed on UMANG
The official UMANG service catalogue lists e-Pehchan card downloads among the ESIC services available through UMANG. It also lists profile information, contributions and benefits, claim status, health passbook downloads, ESI centres and grievances.
The catalogue confirms that the download service exists on UMANG, but the material reviewed for this article does not provide a current screen-by-screen UMANG route. For that reason, this guide does not invent additional navigation steps.
What the e-Pehchan card establishes
ESIC’s FAQ booklet on the ESI scheme describes the Pehchan card as a means of identifying an insured person when accessing medical benefits at a dispensary or hospital and cash benefits at an ESI branch office.
Identification and entitlement are not the same thing. The official ESI Act text connects medical benefit to insured status, the extension of benefit to family members where applicable, and statutory or regulatory conditions.
Downloading the card therefore gives you an accessible copy of an identification document. It does not by itself guarantee eligibility, define the benefits available in an individual case or support a claim that treatment will be refused solely because the card has not been downloaded.
