Ishan Kishan scored 270 from 334 balls as East Zone completed a first-innings total of 708 against South Zone in the Duleep Trophy final in Chennai on September 7, 2026. The BCCI scorecard records 30 fours and seven sixes in his innings, with Kumar Kushagra contributing 101 from 132 balls.
Kishan and Kushagra added 230 for the fifth wicket, taking East Zone from 241 for four to 471 for five. Their partnership supplied nearly a third of the team’s eventual total and gave Kishan a century-scoring partner during his long stay at the crease.
A return after retiring hurt
According to The Indian Express’s report from the final, Kishan retired hurt on 250 before returning to add another 20 runs. The report recorded his time at the crease as 522 minutes.
Kishan was eventually caught by R Smaran off T Vijay. East Zone were bowled out in 163 overs, with Vijay taking four wickets for 180 runs.
The two century-makers had resumed the second day with substantial scores already behind them. Wisden’s innings report records Kishan overnight on 111 and Kushagra on 63, with East Zone at 385 for four.
A final open to Chennai spectators
The BCCI had moved the final to M.A. Chidambaram Stadium from its Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru so spectators could attend. Its August 19 announcement scheduled the match for September 6 to 10.
The board cited attendance restrictions at the Bengaluru facility in explaining the move. Chennai therefore hosted the domestic first-class title fixture, giving spectators the opportunity to watch innings such as Kishan’s from the stands.
