Jio Platforms’ initial public offering is scheduled to open for subscription on October 21 and close on October 23, 2026, according to Reliance Industries’ October 14 exchange filing. The Reliance subsidiary plans to issue up to 27 crore new equity shares. The SEBI-hosted abridged prospectus identifies this as a fresh issue, with no sale of existing shareholders’ shares in the offering.
What the issue will fund
Jio Platforms says it intends to use the net proceeds, after issue expenses, to repay all or part of certain borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm, its main telecom subsidiary, and for general corporate purposes. Those are proposed uses set out in the prospectus, not repayments that have already happened.
Who has reserved access
Reliance’s filing says the issue includes a reservation worth no more than ₹500 crore for eligible employees and one worth no more than ₹2,500 crore for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders. The shareholder category covers individuals and Hindu undivided families who held public RIL equity shares on October 14, 2026, subject to legal eligibility rules.
What the business filing reveals
Reliance Jio Infocomm served 533.3 million customers in India as of June 30, 2026, including mobile and fixed-broadband customers, according to Jio Platforms’ prospectus. The subsidiary accounted for 87.74% of Jio Platforms’ consolidated revenue from operations in the financial year ended March 31, 2026. Telecom therefore remains central to understanding the company, even as its filing describes a wider range of digital services.
The company’s risk summary points to spectrum and licence renewals, network reliability, and cybersecurity and privacy breaches. The prospectus also cautions that the offer price does not predict the market price after listing. SEBI has not recommended the shares or guaranteed the document’s accuracy. The schedule and business disclosures explain the proposed sale; they do not establish what the shares will be worth afterward.
