Arumainathan’s 80th Birthday Celebration Highlights Service to Students, Parents and Senior Citizens

Chennai: A special celebration was held in Chennai to mark the 80th birthday of S. Arumainathan, president of the Tamil Nadu Student Parent Welfare Association, and his wife K. Mary Therese.

The event, described as a “Muthu Vizha” or 80th year celebration, took place at the Corporation Community Welfare Hall in Virugambakkam. Family members, social activists, educationists, senior citizens and members of various welfare organisations attended the programme and offered their greetings to the couple.

Arumainathan, who served in the Cooperative Audit Department of the Tamil Nadu government, has been actively involved in public and social service even after his retirement. He has served as the state general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Audit Department Employees’ Association and has also been associated with several people-oriented organisations.

He is currently known for his work as the president of the Tamil Nadu Student Parent Welfare Association. He has also been active in the Virugambakkam branch of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association, the Tamil Nadu Government All Department Pensioners’ Association and various residents’ welfare groups in the area.

Speaking at the event, Arumainathan stressed the need to form senior citizens’ welfare committees in every locality. He said such groups could help protect the rights, health and dignity of elderly people, while also creating a support system for them within their own neighbourhoods.

As part of the celebration, financial assistance was extended to different causes. Arumainathan donated Rs. 30,000 to Padmashree Dr. V. S. Natarajan's Geriatric Foundation through its co-founder Rajasekaran. A contribution of Rs. 10,000 was given to Professor R. Kaleeswaran for supporting the education of children from folk artist families. Another Rs. 5,000 was handed over to teacher Boopalan for the development fund of Nirmal School.

It was also announced that the proceeds from the sale of the golden jubilee souvenir released in connection with the marriage anniversary of C. Arumainathan and K. Mary Theresa would be used to support the education of children belonging to folk artist families.

Educationist Prince Gajendra Babu addressed the gathering and appreciated Arumainathan’s contribution to student welfare, social causes and community work. He also praised the work of progressive writer S. Senthilnathan and Professor R. Kaleeswaran, who has been involved in protecting and supporting folk artists.

The event also featured speeches on issues concerning senior citizens. Health and nutrition adviser P. Krishnamurthy spoke about the importance of proper food habits and physical well-being for elderly people. Advocate P. B. Suresh Babu explained the legal protections available to senior citizens and highlighted the need for awareness about their rights.

Several well-wishers honoured Arumainathan and Mary Theresa with shawls and conveyed their wishes. Arumainathan’s younger son A. Jeyageethan welcomed the gathering, while his elder son A. Jeyarathan proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme became not only a family celebration but also a public occasion that underlined Arumainathan’s long association with education, social welfare, senior citizen rights and community service.

The community that had gathered appreciated how an individual's contributions in his entire life can lead to a positive impact on the society.

பொதுவுடமைச் சிந்தனையாளர் அருமைநாதன் என்னும் இளைஞரின் மறக்க முடியாத 80 வயது நிறைவு முத்து விழா.!

அவருக்கு வயது 80 நிறைவடைந்து 81 நடக்கிறது. ஆனால் செயல்பாடுகள் அனைத்தும் 25 வயது இளைஞரைப் போன்றது.எனவேதான் தலைப்பில் அவ்வாறு பதிவிட்டேன்.

சென்னை, விருகம்பாக்கத்தில் நேற்று நடைபெற்ற விழாவிற்கு சென்று அவரை வாழ்த்திவிட்டு உடனே திரும்பிவிடும் நோக்கத்துடன் சென்று இருந்தேன். ஆனால், வித்தியாசமான

விழா ஏற்பாட்டைப் பார்த்து வியந்துபோய் நீண்ட நேரம் அமர்ந்து இருந்தேன்.

தன் பிறந்தநாள் விழா என்ற பெயரில் சமூகத்திற்கு நன்மைகள் செய்யும் விழாவாக அதை மடை மாற்றி வைத்திருந்தார்கள்.

ஜப்பானியர்கள் எளிதாக நூறு வயதைக் கடந்து ஆரோக்கியமாக வாழ்வதற்கு காரணம்,

அவர்கள் எப்போதும் எந்த வயதிலும் தங்களுக்குப் பிடித்தமான செயல்களில் ஈடுபடுத்திக் கொள்பவர்களாக இருப்பதால்தான்.!

தோழர் அருமை நாதனும் அதையேதான் செய்து வருதிறார்.

அரசு ஊழியராகப் பணியாற்றி 2004 -ல் ஓய்வு பெற்ற அவருடைய வேகம் அதன் பிறகு தான் அதிகரித்தது.

அரசு ஊழியர் நல சங்கத்தின் மாநில நிர்வாகிகளில் ஒருவராக இருந்த அவர் பணி ஓய்வுக்குப் பிறகு தமிழ்நாடு மாணவர் - பெற்றோர் நலச் சங்கத் தலைவராக , விருகம்பாக்கம் குடியிருப்போர் நலச்சங்க தலைவராக மேலும் பல அமைப்புகளில் அங்கம் வகித்து

மக்கள் நலப் பணிகளில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறார். கல்வி வளர்ச்சிக்காக- மாணவர்கள் நலனுக்காக நடைபெறும் எல்லா நிகழ்ச்சிகளிலும், அனைத்துப் போராட்டங்களிலும்

இவரைப் பார்க்கலாம். தனியார் பள்ளிகள் வசூலித்து வந்த கட்டணக் கொள்ளையை கட்டுப்படுத்தியதில்

இவருக்கு முக்கியப் பங்கு உண்டு. இந்த விவகாரங்களில்

கல்வியாளர் பிரின்ஸ் கஜேந்திர பாபுவுடன் கரம் கோர்த்துப் பயணித்து வருகிறார்.

தொப்புள் கொடி உறவுகளாம் ஈழத் தமிழர்கள் 1980களில் பெரும் அவதிக்கு உள்ளான போது

இவர் அரசு ஊழியராக பணியாற்றி வந்தார்.ஆயினும் நண்பர்களிடம் இருந்து நன்கொடைபெற்றும் கலைவாணர் அரங்கில் நாடகம் நடத்தியும் அவர்களுக்குப் பெருந்தொகையை திரட்டிக் கொடுத்தார். ஈழத் தமிழர்களுக்குக்காக நடைபெற்ற போராட்டங்கள் பலவற்றில் கலந்து கொண்டார்.

இதனால் உளவுப் பிரிவு போலீசாரின் தொடர் கண்காணிப்புக்கு ஆளாகி, தன் வேலைக்கு ஆபத்து நேரிடும் சூழல் ஏற்பட்ட போதும் அஞ்சினாரில்லை.

நேற்று நடைபெற்ற அவருடைய விழாவுக்கு வந்திருந்தோரில் முதிர்ந்த வயதினரும் மிகக்குறைந்த வயதினரும் மேடைக்கு வரவழைக்கப்பட்டு

நினைவுப் பரிசுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. அவர்களுக்கு அது இன்ப அதிர்ச்சியாக இருந்தது. "மேஜிக் ஷோ"

மூலம் விழாவிற்கு வந்த அனைவரும் மகிழ்விக்கப்பட்டனர்.

நலிவுற்ற நாட்டுபுறக் கலைஞர்களை ஊக்குவிக்கும் வகையில், ஊக்கத் தொகையை விழாவுக்கு வந்திருந்த,

நாட்டுப்புற கலைஞர்களுக்காக உழைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் பேராசிரியர் காளீஸ்வரனிடம் அருமைநாதன் வழங்கினார். இதேபோல் சிறப்பாக செயல்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும் பத்மஸ்ரீ டாக்டர் வி.எஸ். நடராஜனின் முதியோர் நல அறக்கட்டளைக்கும் சிஐடியு தொழிற்சங்க நிர்வாகத்தில் சிறப்பாக செயல்படும் அரசு உதவி பெறும் பள்ளிக்கும் ஊக்கத் தொகை வழங்கப்பட்டது.

உடல் நல ஆலோசகர் கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி வாழ்த்துரை வழங்கிய போது ,மூத்த குடிமக்கள் எப்படி உடல் நலத்தை பேணுவது என்பது குறித்து விளக்கினார்.

உயர் நீதிமன்ற வழக்கறிஞர் பு.பா. சுரேஷ் பாபு, மூத்த குடிமக்களுக்கு உள்ள சட்ட பாதுகாப்புகள் குறித்து விவரித்தார்.

விழாவுக்கு வந்திருந்த அனைவருக்கும் நன்றி தெரிவித்து அருமைநாதன் பேசுகையில்,

தன்னுடைய வெற்றிகரமான வாழ்க்கைக்கு தன் மனைவி,மகன்கள் மருமகள், உறவினர்கள் மற்றும் நண்பர்கள் ஆற்றிய பங்களிப்பை நன்றியுடன் நினைவு கூர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்தார்.

60 வயதைக் கடந்த பிறகு, மேலும் சிறப்பானதொரு வாழ்க்கையை வாழ முடியும் என்பதற்கு செ.அருமைநாதன் மேரித்தெரஸ் தம்பதியர் ஒரு சிறந்த முன்னுதாரணமாகத் திகழ்கின்றனர்.
