3 October 2026, Chennai.
A resident’s surveillance system captured a minor theft at their property. The CCTV footage shows a person riding a bicycle and circling near the gate of the house multiple before climbing it. The person is then seen observing over items in the open area. After a while, he moves beyond the camera's focus, followed by gushing sound that is recorded in the video. Although the video doesn't show what he does, it sounds like a tap is being broken and then the water gushing out.
Upon inquiry, the resident confirmed that a brass faucet was missing and the water tank had been drained. The resident reported that a formal complaint has already been submitted through the neighborhood association president.
While the financial loss was minimal, this video shows that it has become a must for homes to fix CCTV cameras around to record any untoward activity.
